Camping with Maree
In winter of 1996, Maree and I took the Holden panel van to places in "outback" Queensland and the Northern Territory, as well as the Queensland coast near Cape Tribulation. Photos: recovered from 35mm
Hanging fig trees are huge and magnificent.
This is the 'surface expression' of a lava tube, but underneath...
Underneath, the lava tubes are dramatic
The countryside is full of beautiful old farm buildings....
In those days, we always had camping sites to ourselves.... not a grey nomad in sight!
And many amazing landscapes
And when we reached the coast.... not a person in sight.... Those were the days..... (sigh....)
Evening falls.... on many fascinating lost stories.....
Beaches, with their overhanging rainforest trees....
And mangroves....
Warm weather... no-one else around within miles and miles.... paradise!
